Tax Manager

We’re seeking an experienced Business Tax Manager to join a fully remote public accounting team and take real ownership of a client portfolio and the people supporting it. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can manage relationships, drive technical quality, and guide planning year-round.
The ideal candidate is a proactive Tax Manager who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of client outcomes, and enjoys partnering closely with firm leadership to drive quality, efficiency, and long-term growth.
Responsibilities:
- Own a portfolio of 100+ business clients (S-corporations, partnerships, LLCs) as the primary point of contact
- Review federal and state business returns and serve as a go-to resource on complex technical issues
- Lead year-end tax planning, including projections, estimated tax work, and strategic recommendations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Business Tax seniors and associates
- Manage billing, WIP, and realization for your client portfolio
- Partner with leadership to transition and retain client relationships over the first 6–9 months
- Contribute to improving team processes and how work is delivered year-round
Qualifications:
- CPA or EA license required
- 7+ years of public accounting experience with a strong business tax focus
- Strong technical depth in pass-through entities, C-corporations, and multi-state taxation (must have CA tax experience)
- Proven experience managing client relationships (not just preparation/review)
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience with CCH Axcess (Axcess Tax, Document, XCM) and tools like QuickBooks
Salary: $125,000 – $175,000
