Senior Tax Manager

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Tax Manager for High Net Worth Individuals to play a key leadership role in their tax advisory team. This position is ideal for a seasoned tax professional with deep expertise in wealth management, estate planning, and tax strategies tailored for affluent clients. The Senior Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and families, providing sophisticated tax planning solutions, overseeing compliance, and ensuring strategic wealth preservation. This role requires exceptional technical acumen, strong client relationship management skills, and the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage tax compliance and planning for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, and estates.
  • Develop and execute tax strategies to optimize wealth preservation, minimize tax liabilities, and enhance estate planning.
  • Review and approve complex individual, fiduciary, gift, and estate tax returns.
  • Research and interpret evolving tax laws, regulations, and legislative changes affecting HNWIs.
  • Advise clients on wealth transfer strategies, philanthropic giving, and tax-efficient investment structures.
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, ensuring technical excellence and professional development.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, attorneys, and other wealth management professionals to provide comprehensive tax planning solutions.
  • Represent clients in audits, IRS disputes, and tax controversy matters.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in tax compliance.
  • Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships by providing exceptional service and proactive tax planning insights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred).
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required.
  • 8+ years of experience in tax compliance and planning, with a strong focus on high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws affecting HNW clients, including estate and gift tax regulations.
  • Experience in private client services, wealth management, or a family office environment is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH, UltraTax, or ProSystem fx) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex client engagements, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and mentor junior tax professionals.

Salary: $155k – $180k
